In memory of James Douthwaite

James Douthwaite (Jimmy) sadly passed away after a late diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis in 2022, and since then his family have been fundraising tirelessly to make sure no one else goes through the same heartbreak as they did.

Jimmy is a beloved husband to Snowli and father to James, Melissa and Natasha. As a family they wanted to do something positive for everyone affected by PF and have continued to fundraise for two years since Jimmy passed away, with activities such as Fete Stalls, Raffles, Birthday Fundraisers, Half Marathons and Marathons! Together they have now raised an incredible £6,700 for APF - with future fundraising events still on the horizon.

"Jimmy was admitted to hospital only 11 days after walking our daughter, Melissa, down the isle on her wedding day and he passed away a month later. He was such a courageous man and never cried, he kept telling me to calm down and told us all how much he loved us, as we did him. As a family we are heartbroken and that's what made us all decide to start fundraising in his memory. We can't help him, but we can help others and that is what Jimmy would have wanted."

It's thanks to amazing supporters like Snowli and her family, who fundraise in memory of loved ones, that we can continue our vital work and be there for those who need us the most. If you would like to fundraise for APF, there are so many ways you can get involved and we'll be there to support you every step of the way.
