It is the first new licensed medicine in more than a decade and offers real hope that people living with pulmonary fibrosis could have more treatment options in the future.
However, MHRA approval does not mean the medicine is available on the NHS yet. The next step is for NICE to assess whether nerandomilast should be recommended for routine NHS use in England.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis is proud to be contributing to that process. We will give evidence to the NICE committee to ensure that the experiences, needs and priorities of people affected by pulmonary fibrosis are central to discussions.
