John Raises Funds For Research

January 13, 2023

John Simmons sadly lost his beloved wife Karen to pulmonary fibrosis 18 months ago, he is passionate about funding vital research that, he hopes, will one day lead to a cure.

With the support of Bawburgh Golf Club Vets Captain Tim Cooke, John has organised golf days and raffles at the club. His good friend Scott Garrod sourced raffle prizes generously donated by Tesco. The players have raised an incredible £2,047.50 which will go directly towards funding research into pulmonary fibrosis.

"We presented John with a very special award at his recent golf day presentation, to thank him, not only on our behalf, but also on the behalf of everyone affected by this devastating disease." Tim Cooke

As well as raising funds at the club, John and Scott also organised a mass collection across 13 Tesco stores in East Anglia. An amazing 33 volunteers came along to help and collectively raised over £2,000.

Trustee Wendy Dickinson and Friend (Collecting donations in Hunstanton)

Every penny raised on behalf of Bawburgh Golf Club and Tesco will help fund research that could one day stop pulmonary fibrosis in its tracks.

Everyone here at APF would like to say a big thank you to John and Scott for their continued support, and to all the volunteers who gave up their time to raise awareness and collect money for APF at their local Tesco stores. It really does mean the world to us 💜
