The speakers

Professor Surinder Birring
Professor Surinder Birring is Consultant Respiratory Physician and Professor of Respiratory Medicine at King’s College Hospital and King’s College London. Professor Birring is leading research into the mechanisms, monitoring and  treatment of cough. He has led the development of a number of widely used patient reported outcome measures for Interstitial Lung Disease, Sarcoidosis, Bronchiectasis and Cough.

Liz Robertson

In childhood Liz had frequent chest infections, coughs, sinus problems. So when  she started coughing again, years later, she didn’t pay much attention. Liz  was diagnosed with non-specific Interstitial Pneumonitis (NSIP) in 2011. This  was subsequently amended to RA-ILD when inflammatory arthritis was diagnosed two years later. Cough affects every part of Liz’s life in some way or other and her cough stopped her from working.

Steve Jones, Chair of APF will be moderating the session.

Steve  was diagnosed with IPF in 2008 and lived with the disease for eight years before receiving a single lung transplant in March 2016. Steve has suffered from cough.
