Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) has been awarded the Carer Friendly Tick Award - Communities, in recognition of our work supporting carers of people affected by pulmonary fibrosis.
The award is given to organisations in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk that demonstrate a culture of best practice in carer support.
APF’s work was rated as Excellent by a panel of carers. The panel highlighted our Carers Charter, the information we provide for carers and our range of awareness-raising activities, particularly our legal and hospice sessions and telephone support line.
Wendy Jones, APF’s Carers Lead, said: “We applied for the Carer Friendly Tick Award because Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis has worked hard to build an inclusive carers community where carers are recognised, valued and supported. As the charity has grown, more carers have come to us for support and it is vital that they can trust the information they receive.
“Working with Caring Together has given us the chance to have our work independently checked and gives carers real confidence that they’re receiving expert help, while giving our staff the skills and confidence to identify and support even more carers.”
The Carer Friendly Tick Award remains valid for two years, after which organisations need to submit a renewal application.
We’re grateful to the carers who help shape our work and to everyone across APF who works to ensure carers are recognised, valued and supported.
