Caitlin runs the London Marathon
May 19, 2023
Caitlin Giles decided to run the London Marathon 2023 in loving memory of her Nana Barbara and has raised an incredible £1,115 for APF.
“We sadly lost our Nana Barbara in August 2022 from a short but sudden diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis. She was a bubbly, cheeky and wise lady who was very head strong and always inspired me to go out and achieve what I wanted. She would always tell me that you won’t get anywhere unless you open your mouth, and that the worst they will say is “No.”

“After applying to the London Marathon on a whim and receiving a rare ballot entry, I knew I had to accept the place and run the marathon in memory of Nana Barbara. I have never been a runner, so this is quite a new challenge for me. I have been training solidly for around 6 months and completed 5K, 10K, 10 mile and half marathon run events. I have already hit my fundraising goal, and hope to keep raising money to help other families and people who are living with pulmonary fibrosis.”
